Deadline extension: 23rd April 2007 Digital Music Research Network (DMRN) Summer Conference in association with Sonic Art Meeting Group (SAMG) 6th – 8th July 2007 Call for Submissions Hosted by Leeds Metropolitan University This year the DMRN Summer Conference 2007 will run in association with the SAMG. This collaboration will promote the integration of arts and science-based disciplines including those directed at sonic art performance. Call for Paper Abstracts The Digital Music Research Network (DMRN) Summer Conference 2007 would like to invite contributions addressing the following topics: * Sound synthesis * Audio analysis * Signal processing tools * Music data structures and representations * Human computer interfacing for music and audio * Digital music content generation * Musicology, analysis and performance * Aesthetic approaches to compositional practice * Psychoacoustics, perception, cognition of music and audio Submissions will initially take the form of an abstract of between 300 - 500 words. Authors will be invited to present their work either by oral presentation (20 minutes) or as a poster. The conference committee will decide this allocation; however, authors may specify a preference when submitting their abstract. Abstracts should be e-mailed to a.stansbie@leedsmet.ac.uk no later than Monday 23rd April 2007. Please include contact details and list affiliated institutions where applicable. Successful contributors will be notified by Monday 7th May 2007. Authors will then be asked to submit a camera-ready version of their paper (in PDF format) by Monday 4th June 2007. A template document will be available for the final papers. Final PDF submissions should not exceed 4 pages. Call for Music The Digital Music Research Network (DMRN) Summer Conference 2007 call for works is now open. The conference aims to promote pieces by established and emerging composers that work in the field of digital music. Chosen works will be performed in concert through a multi-channel system driven by M2 diffusion software. Selected composers are expected to attend the conference to perform their work and contribute to the wider networking aims of the event. Submissions should take the following format and fulfill all conditions in order to be eligible: Stereo works Submission should be in the form of an audio CD. The duration of the work should be no less than 5 minutes and no longer than 15 minutes. Each submission should be accompanied by a short technical description of requirements for the performance, a short biography of the composer (max 150 words), program notes (max 150 words), and the composer’s contact details. Multi-channel works (up to 8 discrete Channels) Submission should be both in data CD (44.1 KHz, 16 bit .wav or .aiff) and in stereo audio CD. The duration of the work should be no less than 5 minutes and no longer than 15 minutes. Each submission should be accompanied by a short technical description of requirements for the performance, speaker configuration diagram, a short biography of the composer (max 150 words), program notes (max 150 words), and the composer’s contact details. Mixed works (Instrument and Tape / Live electronics) Submission should be in the form of an audio CD featuring a recording of the work, (including any live parts) and a score where appropriate. The duration of the work should be no less than 5 minutes and no longer than 15 minutes. Each submission should be accompanied by a detailed technical description of requirements for the performance, speaker configuration diagram, a short biography of the composer (max 150 words), program notes (max 150 words), and the composer’s contact details. Please note that DMRN is unable to provide performers or cover performer’s costs for this event. Selection of multi-channel and mixed works will be subject to technical requirements and resources.
