Outcome of SpACE-Net Creative Call

After some considerable deliberation the panel of artists, composers, academics and industry partners who were asked to review and consider the recent round of applications for the Creative Call regretfully announce that none of the current applicants have been successful in moving forward to the commissioning and realisation stage. We realise that this is a disappointing outcome for all concerned, but the panel were unanimous in deciding that despite some excellent and positive ideas, the considered proposals either did not meet the exacting standards of this industry sponsored award, were not at an appropriate stage in terms of planning and communication of artistic intent, or did not meet the more specific requirements of the call for works.

With this in mind the Panel Members and the SpACE-Net board are reconsidering the rationale behind the Creative call for works with a view to revising the process and/or criteria to ensure that applications have a much higher chance of success with a clear match in terms of the use and aesthetics of Spatial Audio focused work. To provide a further incentive for future applicants, additional funding will be made available to encourage more collaborative proposals, and a high profile venue for the presentation of the work will be organised in collaboration with SpACE-Net partners.

With sincere apologies to our original applicants and SpACE-Net memebrs for the delay in making this announcement. The panel and SpACE-Net board would like to thank all concerned for the work involved in submitting their proposals and for their forbearance in awaiting a final decision.
