The second SpACE-Net International Spatial Audio Workshop takes place on Wednesday 23rd January 2008 at the Music Research Centre (MRC), University of York, York, UK.

The key-note speaker will be Jean-Marc Jot of Creative, the world-wide leading manufacturer of digital entertainment products for the PC.

The theme for the workshop is: 5.1 Surround-sound: Opportunity or Constraint?

The call for works challenges artists/sound designers/composers to work within the ’standard‘ that is prevalent across much of the audio industry. Does 5.1 stimulate creativity or limit what can be effectively delivered?

The selected works should be designed for delivery in the MRC’s Rymer Auditorium on the installed Genelec 1038 based 5.1 system. Details available here: http://music.york.ac.uk/mrc/facilities.html

The maximum total budget to be awarded per selected commission, including fees, materials and consumables is £1000.
