Perceptually motivated measurement of spatial sound attributes for audio-based information systems

A novel acoustic measurement technique has been developed and refined such that it can now provide an accurate prediction of human perception of source direction, apparent source width and environment width. A set of custom-designed spatial audio test signals has been created, for use with the measurement, and together the test signals and measurement technique enable perceptually valid evaluations of sound reproduction and synthesis systems, and of natural acoustic environments.
